The three-hour Kiln-fired sculpture workshop is open to everyone, including complete beginners.
During the session, we will guide you through the process of modeling and help you create an original ceramic piece – a cup, bowl, vase, or a small sculpture. At your own pace, you will create one or two pieces.
This is not a traditional step-by-step workshop where everyone makes the same object. The course is designed to give each participant maximum creative freedom and space to develop their own original idea.
To make the most of your time in the studio, it is recommended to think in advance about what you would like to create. You can also send a sketch or reference image beforehand. For more complex projects, I can prepare simple supporting structures in advance.
Finished pieces need approximately 10 days to dry before firing.
You can keep your piece in its natural form, decorate it with engobes (liquid clay colored with pigment – resulting in a matte, unglazed surface after firing), or return for a separate glazing session.
Important
Each session is designed either as modeling (3 hours) or as a follow-up glazing session (1–3 hours).
Due to the technological process (drying and firing), it is not possible to complete both modeling and glazing within a single session.
However, during the modeling session, you can decorate your piece with colored engobes, which result in a matte finish after firing.
If desired, you can either:
- book an additional glazing session, or
- have your piece glazed with a transparent glaze by us for 100–450 CZK (depending on the size and number of pieces)

About the creative process
In the studio, I aim to fully support your ideas and help you bring them to life. At the same time, ceramics involves certain technical limitations – more complex or larger pieces usually require more time.
If you choose a more ambitious project within a single session, please be aware that during drying or firing, slight shape changes, cracks, or deformations may occur. This is a natural part of working with clay, especially for beginners.
Students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague also assist during the workshops, helping to ensure individual support during the process.
I always do my best to minimize these risks and help you choose the most suitable approach for the best possible result.
Collection & follow-up glazing
After firing (approximately 10–14 days), you will receive an email notification that your pieces are ready.
You can collect them within one month, or book a follow-up glazing session within that time.
This course is for anyone who enjoys working with clay and wants to create regularly, experiment, and develop their skills, or focus on a more complex project that cannot be completed in a single session.
Over six sessions, you will work at your own pace on your own projects – from functional ceramics (cups, bowls, vases) to free sculptural work.
This is not a traditional class where everyone makes the same object. The course is individually structured to give each participant space to develop their own original ideas.
How you can work in the course
You can choose your own approach:
1) Multiple smaller ceramic pieces
You can create several smaller objects and freely combine modeling and glazing across different sessions.
2) One more complex project
You can focus on a single, more demanding piece throughout the course:
- ceramic sculpture (modeling + firing)
- sculptural clay (modeling, mold making, and casting)
I will help you choose a process that fits both your idea and the timeframe of the course.
What you will learn
- basic and more advanced modeling techniques
- working from observation, photographs, and imagination
- ceramic processes (drying, firing, glazing)
- basics of mold making and casting
- surface finishes (engobes, glazes, pigments, shellac)
The course is also suitable as preparation for art school entrance exams.
Organization of work
To make the most of your time in the studio, it is recommended to think in advance about what you would like to create. You can also send a sketch or reference image.
For more complex projects, I can prepare simple supporting structures in advance.
For ceramic pieces, it is important to consider the technological process:
- drying (approx. 10 days)
- firing
Modeling and glazing therefore usually take place in separate sessions.
