Atelier Valžán was founded through the collaboration of two academic sculptors and restorers, Miroslav Žán and Klára Žán Valentová, who hold permits from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic for the restoration of cultural monuments.
Together with a team of experienced professionals, the atelier combines art, technology, history, and craftsmanship to restore the original beauty and soul of each piece.
Monument restoration is a unique field where visual art, craftsmanship, and historical expertise merge. According to the heritage protection law, it involves a set of specific procedures that respect the original techniques and artistic value of each work. Every restoration intervention is based on careful research and a deep understanding of the cultural and historical context of the monument. To ensure the highest quality of work, we closely collaborate with heritage experts, architects, technologists, and skilled craftsmen.
We specialize in the restoration and conservation of a wide range of materials – stone, wood, stucco, ceramics, ivory, and other historical elements. We treat polychrome sculptures and architectural elements made of stone and terracotta, whether standing independently in public spaces or as part of façades and interiors of historic buildings.
We also offer complete restoration of wooden polychrome sculptures and larger architectural ensembles such as altars and organ cases, including traditional gilding and silvering. If necessary, we provide disassembly and transport of sculptures.
At our studio in Bratronice near Kladno, we perform complete restorations of both large and smaller sculptural or artistic-craft monuments.
We are also able to create replicas of sculptures, free sculptural reconstructions, or original sculptural works made from wood, stone, ceramics, and other materials.
